The dating widow

After being a widow for more than 2 years I think I'm ready to start dating again. I asked my friend how I should go about meeting men and she suggested the free online dating site BaseCandy.com. I was a bit hesitant to take this route because of the stories I've heard but I figured, whats the worst that could happen?

I browsed the site and found some respectable prospects and started chatting with them. After about 2 weeks of chatting online and then chatting on the phone we set up a date and went out. The first guy I met was a little strange but the second guy was cool. Since things went so well we set up another date for next week.

It's funny how we psych ourselves out of doing things because of the images we create in our minds. I had pictures of weird and deranged people being members of the dating site but they were pretty normal like everybody else looking for other singles. We can't let preconceived notions hamper our actions we must be willing to take the plunge and reassess. 

It also helps to read other peoples thoughts on dating to gain some perspective. Seeing how other people cope with problems inspires me to do better and gives me strength. I like to read the biographies of successful people in hopes of emulating their strength of character and courage. Also, many times there are valuable life lessons to be learned. I think in general we should read a wide array of subject matter so as to prepare us for whatever life has to throw at us.
